Himalaya is facing the most danger from global warming. The snow caps have started to melt and so there are a huge change taking place in the path of the glaciers. The temperature of the Himalayas are rising 0.06 annually. This is causing a great damage to the snow cap peaks.
Glaciers is still a looming concern for many scientists and governments, which worry about how warming will affect the region's water cycle.
Lama has witnessed other changes in the road-less valley, 60km northwest of Kathmandu, where sure-footed ponies remain the quickest form of transport. "I feel that the sun is getting stronger, and in the past there used to be a lot more snow in winter. We used to get up to 2m in the winter, and it would stay for weeks. Last winter we only had 2cm."
Glaciers in the Himalayas are retreating at an average rate of 50 feet (15 m) per year, consistent with rapid warming  which was recorded at Himalayan climate stations since the 1970s. Winter stream flow for the Baspa glacier basin has increased 75% since 1966 and local winter temperatures have warmed up, suggesting increased glacier melting in winter. In winters also glaciers are melting to hear it is a shock for all the people, how can this be possible but it is true. This is showing that how much is it being affected. if it moves on in this way it will give rise to the chances of flood in the near by countries.
As Himalayan glaciers melt glacial lakes are swelling and in danger of catastrophic flooding. Average glacial retreat in Bhutan is 100-130 feet (30-40 m) per year. Therefore Bhutan is also facing the threat of the rising water level.
A time will come will all the glaciers will melt and the near by places will be under water.

Deforestation

Deforestation means the permanent destruction of indigenous forests and woodlands. At the same time it does not include the removal of industrial forests such as plantations of gums or pines, which are cultivated specially by the industries. Deforestation has resulted in the reduction of indigenous forests to four-fifth of their pre-agricultural areas. Indigenous forests presently covers only  21% of the earth's land surface. There are various consequences of deforestation.
"About one half of the forests that covered the Earth are gone. Each year, another 16 million hectares disappear. The World Resources Institute estimates that only about 22% of the world's (old growth) original forest cover remains "intact" - most of this is in three large areas: the Canadian and Alaskan boreal forest, the boreal forest of Russia, and the tropical forest of the northwestern Amazon Basin and the Guyana Shield (Guyana, Suriname, Venezuela, Columbia, etc.) "
It is true that the way deforestation is taking place a time will come where thee will be only 1% of the trees will be left.  That will the end of the world.  Still the people are so casual towards it. It is not only about deforestation but also the impact it is having on the wildlife. The main effect is the loss of biodiversity and the loss of different type of species of animals.
Brazilian deforestation is correlated with the economic health of the country, the decline in deforestation from 1988-1991 has matched the economic slowdown, while the rocketing rate of deforestation from 1993-1998 paralleled  with the Brazil's period of rapid economic growth. This was proved by a research. This shows that deforestation is also associated with the  economic growth of the country.
Same is in case of India as in India there are still many group of people who earn their livelihood with the help of the forests. This has a vice versa effect as they cut down tress and sell them, this in turn causes deforestation.
So, it is high time that we start to plant tress and try to protect the existing ones.

Wild Life Conservation

Human beings have started to think themselves as the most superior being and at the same time started to dominate the others. This is creating a huge difference which is a contemporary factor of causing environmental disaster. For that one first has to be aware of what is wildlife conservation.
Wildlife conservation is a practice in which people attempt to protect endangered plant and animal species, along with their habitats. The goal of wildlife conservation is to ensure that nature will be around for future generations to enjoy, and to recognize the importance of wildlife and wilderness lands to humans. Many nations have government agencies dedicated to wildlife conservation which help to implement policies designed to protect wildlife, and numerous independent nonprofit organizations also promote various wildlife conservation causes.
Wild life can be conserved by providing them with natural environment and indiscriminate hunting and putting ban on illegal trade on wildlife products. “Every 20 minutes, the world adds another 3,500 human lives but loses one or more entire species of animal or plant life – at least 27,000 species per year.” (Source: PBS). “At the present rates of extinction, as many as 20% of the world's 7-15 million species could be gone in the next 30 years. This rate of extinction has been unprecedented since the disappearance of dinosaurs 65 million years ago.” (Source: WWF).
It is very sad to see that the number of exinct species have been increasing. With the passage of time people tend to forget it even. Why we don't think that what are we living behind us for the future generations. Though government has taken steps to conserve wildlife but it is not fully successful, as we all know.

Positive side of Global Warming

The global warming is having some good effects on the nature also. The recent study proved that when on one hand the climatic change is effecting the life of the animals at the same time it is doing serving as a factor in increase the rain forests.
Climate change, and associated shifts in temperature and precipitation, is having a varying effects around the world. Some forests will benefit from  this warmer conditions, increased rainfall, and carbon dioxide fertilization effects, while others will suffer from increased incidence of drought, fire, and pest outbreaks. It is having a dual effect.
Though a research found that due to global warming new type of vegetation is coming up. These in turn is helping in increase the density of the forests. As the forests play an important role in reducing the pollution. It means that they are helping each other. The productivity of tropical forests is projected to increase where water is sufficiently available. Tropical forests, particularly rain forests, harbor the highest biodiversity of all land ecosystems; even moderate climate change would put some of this biodiversity at a considerable risk.
What we can rather than hoping to a have some better future. Nothing can be done when people do things knowing the consequences. Still it is a good to get to hear that there are some positive sides of the global warming also, as we were tired of hearing only bad effects.

Polar Bear and Global Warming

The rarely found Polar bears are going to suffer from the shortage. This animal is under the threat of extinction, as there are changes that this species might come to an end by 2050. The polar bears are depended upon the natural habitat. They mostly live in the cold regions of the world.
The ice of the Arctic have started to melt and so, it is having a great impact on the habitat of the bears. which is already visible. a study conducted by the scientists of the California University  showed that that the jaws of the polar bears are less strong than the grizzly bears. This proves that it will be difficult for the polar bears to adjust in a vegetarian situation. They eat mostly seals and other fatty marine mammals that they hunt from the ice and water.
So, these bears mostly look for ice, round the year. Not only the temperature also the rapid movement of icebergs in these regions may leave some bears stranded in food-poor areas, or it might require long and exhausting swims from food-rich areas back to ice. As there is being a change in there habitat so there reproduction rate is also decreasing. The number of children are less and then the fight for food for survival. At last only two or three survive.
The global warming is having a huge effect on the life of these innocent animals also. What have they done that they are paying for it. It is we who are the culprit of every thing but still try and avoid it. When the people see any action taking place in against the global warming normal people do not support it. Then they will sat that it is a scientific fiction, nothing real.
How can they be so casual, when they are seeing or reading the results of what is happening round the world because of this, they still believe it to be fake. The type of species of bear which could still survive would be the grizzly bears, polar bears will become extinct first then the other types of bears.

No more plastic Please

India has declared a war on the ban of plastics. Sikkim was the first state of India to ban the use of plastics. Later it was followed by Kerala. The banishment is not on the  blanket but for bags which has less than 30 microns.
The bags used for carrying food, hair dyes and other materials are banned.  Plastic is not a biodegradable element. It can not be decomposed. It remains under the soil. So, recycle was started but it did not reduce the amount of plastics being used in the country. It was indirectly affecting the nature's cycle.  Though the government tried to ensure that proper recycle of plastics were done, but the result was not good.
Later Delhi government came up with blanket ban on plastics. A notification was passed by the government, according to which storage and sale of plastic bags of any kind or thickness, in all places where one gets the bags after shopping, are banned. Anyone who would break the law would be fined with one lakh rupees.
Recently it is Haryana which has banned the use of plastics in its state. Specially in public, historical, religious and ecological significance. The state have also taken initiative of recycling of plastics as per norms.
The use of plastic for carrying food materials is also harming the human body, the effect is not noticed in short term but in long term basis. As plastics are made up of the chemicals and it reacts with the food.
A law was passed in order to ban the use of plastics. People have become so used to it that they find it difficult to carry things without it. Sametime if paper bags are used than a lot of paper is needed in manufacturing paper bags. This was again a problem the government had to fight. More paper means more cutting down trees; this was harming the environment again.
So, finally they have come up with the plan of use of jute bags.  It is eco-friendly and at the same time the jute industry which was losing its value would once again flourish. Still in India there are many states which are using plastics.

Sariska’s Tiger dies Mysteriously

When whole India is trying to save the last 1411 tigers, another death of tiger is reported from Sariksha Reserve in Rajastan. The death of this big cat remains a mystery, though the postmortem report revealed that it did not die because of territorial fights or gun shot or poaching. Still the most shocking thing is that it’s many vital organs are missing.
The tiger was tagged as ST-1 which is one of the missing tigers. The forest department was able to find the tiger on Sunday morning.  This was the first one that was shifted from Ranthambore National Park to Sariska in june 2008. The officers said that when they found the body it was only a chunk of flesh covered with skin. According to them the brain, liver, kidney, lungs and even the alimentary canal of the dead tiger were missing.
On this issue two of the forest officials have been suspended. They were suspended as they were found guilty in the preliminary investigation. In the mean time, Jairam Ramesh the forest and environmental minister also visited the forest to the situation there. When he talked with the villagers of the nearby village that what they think, they replied that it is a case of poisoning. But the officers said that it might be that the body had decomposed within two days, whereas, scientist said it takes at least 72 hours to start decay. The residents are quite sure that it is a case of poising. While the officers believe that there might have been a fight between the two tigers which might have resulted into it’s death.
Another male tiger that is missing tagged ST-4 might also be dead, thinks the officers. Still the final report has not come out. Further steps only will be taken after the final report comes.

Climatic Changes in Arab Nations

Iraq is facing dust storms and at the same time Saudi Arabia is facing flood, Egypt’s facing soil erosion due to rise in the sea level. Though Arab contributed less to the global warming but it is suffering the most.
The major problem that Arab is going to face is water shortage. It is a nation mostly covered by desert.  It has already being facing shortage of water since 1960 and with the change in climate it is going worst day to day. The temperatures are increasing and the population combined together is becoming a huge problem.
Water is the most necessary thing and if this becomes scare then how will the nation be a self sufficient one. This is a huge problem and we all will have to fight it out.  This can also have an effect on our country.  By the year 2050 Arab will have to survive in less than 500 cubic meters of water per year.  A day will come when the cost of water will be high than any other drinks.

Death Due To Air Pollution Increases

Air pollution is causing the death of many people for the past few years; recently there has been an increase in the death toll. The research conducted by the Patna University's Centre for Environment and Nature Conservation (CENC) found that there was a huge difference in results.  Nearly eight lakh people die every year due to air pollution.
As the pollution is increasing so is the death. Still the people fail to realise that they are causing harm to their life. This is caused by the gases that come out of the cars. The number of cars on the road is increasing with the increase in the population and the income. Most of the family’s today have a personal car. Not only this, the forests have also decreased, the trees that the power to decrease the pollution is also less. The natural cycle has been disturbed, so, this was to happen.
Same time there has been an increase in the factory also. The immersion of these factory’s gases also cause the air pollution. The diseases caused by air pollution are asthma, nausea, breathing problem and many others. Partially causes lung cancer.
Many new diseases are being heard of in a regular basis. But how many people in the past suffered from these diseases or even heard of these.  The people seem to ignore or avoid it. When will they realize that it is high time they should do something to save the world and their own lives.

Is Global Warming a Scientific Fiction?

Man has evolved into super intelligent beings, but for all our inventions, breakthroughs and milestones meant to make our world better, it's ironic that we have also made it worse. Whether you choose to believe or not, we've entered the doorstep of global environmental transformations that will change the way we live. Leading the pack is the issue of global warming.
Global warming is the phenomenon of continually increasing average temperature of the Earth's near-surface air and oceans. Its causes are attributed to several things, including volcanic eruptions and changes in the Earth's orbit around the sun, but perhaps its most striking root is the presence of greenhouse gasses in our atmosphere, like methane and carbon dioxide. These gases trap the sun's heat, not letting it escape back to space. The more greenhouse gases there are, the more heat is trapped inside the earth's atmosphere, and the warmer our world gets. This conclusion is backed up by tremendous research and has been endorsed by at least 30 scientific societies and academies of science, together with all of the national academies of science of chief industrialized nations.
Some people would argue global warming is not real, but just some science fiction catastrophe scenario conjured up by scientists to scare people off. If you're some caveman living apart from modern society, you're probably one of them, but I'm sure even cavemen know that there's something wrong with our world these days. The seemingly invincible arctic ice is breaking off into huge chunks faster. In fact, Ward Hunt Ice Shelf, the biggest single block of ice in the Arctic Region, which has been around for 3,000 years, started cracking in 2000. Because of this, ocean levels are rising, and the earth absorbs more sunlight and gets even hotter. Arctic shrinkage and glacier retreat have also been observed.
Mother Nature's cycles have been disturbed, and erratic weather occurrences are evident all over the world. The El Niño phenomenon is a natural and expected occurrence, but global warming is causing El Niño to be unpredictable in terms of arrival, length of occurrence and strength. Notice too that the amount and pattern of rain fall has changed in many parts of the world. Hurricanes have become stronger, storms more intense. Drought and wildfires, flooding and heavy snowfall are also prevalent. Global warming also affects biodiversity, bringing about species extinctions. The increased temperatures also cause changes in agricultural yield and changes in the occurrence and spread of disease. The zone range of potential disease transmission increases; population size and range of hosts and pathogens, and duration of transmission season also change, affecting the overall intensity of outbreaks.
Fortunately, global warming is now a household phrase, and everyone seems to be aware of it at least to some degree. Greenpeace is one of the largest environmental activist groups and their worldwide campaigns to protect the Earth are commendable and highly respected. Efforts to lessen if not eliminate harmful substances that contribute to global warming take form in recycling and use of fuel alternatives like biogas and eco-friendly energy sources like solar and wind power.
I think global warming started by accident, like some kid who thought fire was cool and ended up burning his house. Well we haven't burned down our planet yet and we still have time to make sure we don't. If we haven't yet, we need to realize that to survive, we must protect the Earth. Information about global warming is plentiful, and when science experts, businessmen and politicians are talking about it, I'd say it's as real as the air you breathe; you can't see it, but you know and feel it's there. Global warming is a threat, but also an opportunity to change for the better.

solar lamps in shops

People are taking initiative to do something. So is the case of the people of Haryana and Uttar Pradesh(UP). They have started using solar lamps instead of kerosene and petromax lamps.

Most of the hawkers of these places use the solar lamp. It is surviving the purpose in two ways: eco- friendly and at the same time cheap. Though most of them use it as it is less costly. They don't even realize that they are also doing some  thing good for the world.

The educated people are the one's who cause the most problems. They know every thing but fail to contribute towards the society. They are aware that some product that they use cause damage to the environment but still they don't stop using them. on asking them on global worming they provide us with all information.

It is good that the Non Governmental Organization (NGO's) are taking initiative in bringing up the people and at the same time doing good for the world.

Germans defends its cars

India's Environment Minister Jairam Ramesh recently criticized the growth of sports and large vehicles. This shows that the ministers are also becoming aware of the environmental conditions.

The think that keeps me thinking is that what he is doing is it for the environment or only for the sake of showing off. He wants to show that he is a good minister. In the meeting he specially the German brands. This is because most if the cars in Delhi are of German brands.

On the other hand the Germany is trying to prove us wrong. It is true that a country will always try to support there manufactures, but they should always remember that if a issue which considers the whole world they should take the positive side. not always their country's side. they must also  think for the welfare of the country.

National Green Tribunal for India

India is the third country to form its court of environment. Now the National Environment Appellate Authority will cease to exist and all the cases will be transferred to the new body before it stops operating.
India now no longer is lagging behind; it has taken steps to solve the environment cases separately. The judges will be experts on environmental studies so that they can take a fare judgment. The cases dealing with environmental issues will now get judgment easily. Any people will be able to file case before this court.
A good step has been taken but let’s see how much successful it becomes and how the judgment is been taken. After all in India the politicians are the backing each and every thing.

Avatar gets another award

Avatar the film which rocked the world got another award, this time for its greenery. It received the Environmental Media Association (EMA) awards 2010.  This award function started in the year 1991. It gives recognition to the best television episodes and films that provide an environmental awareness. It is a non profitable organization which was established in 1989.
It is good that the initiative of the film maker was given then recognition.  Not only had this but the television serial 30 rocks also received the same award in the television category. EMA also honored entrepreneurs like Ted Turner and Jeff Skoll at its eco-friendly ceremony Saturday in Burbank's Warner Bros. Studio, complete with organic food and compostable dinnerware. Turner was awarded for his Turner Foundation.

Agriculture under threat

Water pollution has become a huge problem that most of the countries are facing now a days. India is no different as many cases of water pollution has been reported earlier this year. The oil spill of Mumbai was also a part of it. Now it is Madras.
The Madras high court has ordered that the water of the river Noyyal must be sent to the National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI), Chennai Zone Lab in Tharamani to check the amount of pollution in it. It is a seasonal river so it should be away from the threat of pollution but this is not the case.
The river flows through two major cities Coimbatore and Tiruppur. Tiruppur's textile factory has been causing pollution. this id effecting the agriculture of Coimbatore. Coconut cultivation has also been affected as a result of this. This is not the first time that river Noyyal is in issue. In 2003, 29th January a study team of Anna University's Department Of Environment had found that the water was polluted. A report was also presented in front of Madras high court stating the condition of the farmers still there was no result.
Newly this case has come up before the court but will there be very less chances of good results. If action was to be taken then why not before and by this time pollution would have been under control. Still government are giving permission to grow many factory without even thinking of the future. After all in India every thing is under the control of the politicians.  Who only think of there benefit what ever may be the situation.
Still we are looking forward to a positive judgement.

Same treatment for jumbos and tigers

Elephant has now been declared as the national heritage animal of India. After a long discussion the government has officially declared it as the nation heritage animal on Friday 22nd October. This measure has been taken in order to protect the Asia’s largest mammal.
Elephants were used to be a sign of royalty during the king's era. But they have always been used for various purposes. In past, they were used to fight and a mode of transport. Now they are used to do heavy works like move logs and stones. In those days they were owned by the kings and presently by ordinary people and temple. This makes them move away from their natural home and surroundings. This also sometimes led to their death.
Every year a lot of elephants are killed for their precious tooth. Though it is illegal to sell ivory but still in hidden way it is carried out. It is so inhuman to kill them just for a part of their body.
Elephants get hit by trains while crossing the tracks which in turn results to their death. Recently there was a similar that killed seven elephants. It was in the district of Jalpaiguri in September.
At present India approximately have 25,000 elephants. Now that elephants are declared as national heritage animals they will receive the same treatment as tigers. The government has also decided to amend the wildlife acts. It is good that the elephants are being taken care before the situations were similar to that of tigers. Hope that this will be able to make it an extinct animal from Asia.

Gold Mine Fined

Fine of $90,000 was imposed on Claude Resources Inc. a gold mining company in Saskatoon. It had violated the federal Fisheries Act. This has caused a great amount of problem to the fisheries. the water body is full of fish and the company had deposited its waste. http://www.cbc.ca/canada/saskatchewan/story/2010/09/28/sk-claude-fined-1009.html
Everyday one gets to know about these type of water pollution. recently there has been a increase in the number of water pollution that we get to hear each day. This happened because now the eyes of the environmental agencies and the government have opened. So a detail study of each small thing is being made so many cases can be heard now a days.
They opened the underground gold mine in 1991 and it initially produced about 900,000 ounces of gold. Now the production has decreased. this means that already most of it have been extracted by them. http://www.thestarphoenix.com/technology/Gold+operation+fined+over+pollution/3588932/story.html

POSCO's judgment delayed

Posco a South Korean steel major, project in Orissa still waits for the decision. The government has set up a committee to check all details and submit a report. according to this report the decision will be taken. The committee is to investigate the status of the implementation of the Forest Rights Act, and the status of the implementation of the rehabilitation and resettlement plans. It also has to check the past record of Posco, whether they had any environmental related issues or not. They visited the Posco's captive port site at Jatadhari river mouth near Paradip port in Jagatsinghpur district and also met officials of Orissa State Pollution Control Board, Posco and Paradip Port Trust.
The Indian government has finally opened their eyes and started to investigate things they where suppose to do earlier also. But this did not happened. Due to this many local people have been facing problems which where near the construction sites. SAIL has seek help from the Orissa's government for the clearance report on environment. The people's consent must also be taken into account at the sametime. They must have proper instruments to process the waste before giving it in nature. If all the conditions are satisfied then the permission can be given, as it will also develop the economy of our country. But not at the cost of  the nature.

Stop green House Gases

Government has given permission to the Environmental Agencies to implement the rules they have made. Though in the beginning the government was not in its for but now the permission have been granted for them to take any steps they feel necessary to stop the pollution.
Still the agencies have a problem to deal with the industries and factories, who are against the rules made by them. They are only interested in making money and nothing else comes in their mind, first thing that strikes that is money and end also with profit. If these rules become applicable then the factories will face huge amount of problem. The waste which the factories where deposited to the water way near by. No processing is done. The toxic elements are not separated from the waste. This when mixes with water causes pollution. The gases that the factories release in the air causes the green house effect.
Now if the rules become active then they have to process the waste before being deposited, which in turn will require more money invest. Thus the industrialists are against the laws. When will they start thinking as human beings and not as a businessman. It is great that the government is there with the agencies or else the industrialists would get a good opportunity to not following the rules. But now they would be bound to follow them.

Rally for Bay cleaning

The people can never be suppressed, how much the government tries to stop them from making any rally. In my last blog many miners where arrested for protesting for mountain top mining. Still the people did not lose or faith in their government. They are sure that it will surely have a positive effect. After the 60s once again people have taken up rallies as a way of protest. In Pennsylvania people have opted the same method for protest. Though they where aware of the arrest of the miners they still did not back out. This time it is bay clean up. The people have understood the problem they will face from water pollution. http://weblogs.baltimoresun.com/features/green/2010/09/activists_to_rally_for_bay_cle.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+B-moreGreen+%28B%27More+Green%29
I was happy to be proven wrong, that the event of the rally against the mountain top mining and their arrest had a positive effect instead of a negative one. If it continues this way then the day is not far behind that the government will have to take decision in the people's favour.

Miners arrested for protesting

A US Environmental Protection Agency had conducted a rally with the local people and miners to stop mining in the mountain top . Though the agency is trying to do some thing but the government also needs to support them. Without the help of the government how much success the agencies can get.
If the government does not understand the need to protect the environment then the agencies can do nothing. If the people try to do something they are suppressed by the government. At one end we feel happy that the people are trying do do something for the nature but if in this way the government suppress es the people will no longer will come up and participate in the rallies which is related to the environmental issues. About 100 miners where arrested. This will automatically have a negative effect on the mind set of people. http://www.greenchipstocks.com/articles/mountaintop-mining-protest-ends-with-arrests/1114
In days to come they will keep quiet and take all things for granted. As they will be under the impression that no results will be seen in their side. The protest will go in vein.  So, what the use of wasting time, this will strike their mind and they will no longer protest.

Hindu Festival and Environmental problems

In Hinduism there is a of immersion of god's idol in the water. It is part of the ritual. big procession are carried out while the god is taken. Recently there was the Ganesh festival or so called Ganesh Chaturthi.
Did even one think that what amount of pollution it is causing to the water. The idols are made of clay and mud which causes no harm . this can easily mix with the water. But what about the paints. the idols are painted with bright colours and are made to look beautiful. these paints when dissolve into water in becomes toxic. the harmful chemicals that are mixed with the paint tend to make the water polluted. http://edition.cnn.com/2010/WORLD/asiapcf/09/26/green.ganesh.eco/?hpt=C2
the people feel happy after the whole festival is over but the marine life becomes unhappy. they get disturbed by it, a it suddenly goes inside water and later bye the chemicals. Why will god want to destroy its own creatures? They have also the full right to live freely. There is no where mention that the idols are to be immersed in water.  So why do we inter fear in their life? Mhy can not we let them lead their happy life?

Concern for Oil Spills

Apparently plans to ask states to implement regulations it is developing to limit greenhouse gas emissions.the plans are being made but they are not even sure that whether it will be successful or not. They have just taken an initiative.
This plans are being made because this year a great number of oil spills have been reported from all over the world. So, this have struck their mind and they have started to take actions. The number of water bodies which are polluted and need clean up have also increased. All together causing a great amount of water pollution in different ways. http://washingtonindependent.com/98761/epa-administrator-addresses-concerns-about-oil-spill-waste-management
At the same time New Mexico Environment Department has received an award for state’s water quality program. The program will prevent, reduce, and eliminate water pollution through biological and habitat data management and analysis, continuous water quality monitoring, and sediment and siltation data collection and analysis.
This proves that if one wants to do something good it is possible. Sill the nature can be saved if taken proper care.

Miners protest aganist mining

Finally people are realizing the need to keep their environment clean. the people are protesting against the government if they are doing something wrong. the people of Appalachia and the supporters making a rally to protest against the mountaintop removal mining.
They had the guts to make a petition to the president of this situation. They have realized that it causes a great amount of pollution. They also demanded the end the destructive practice.
The mountain top mining is done by initially cleaning the densely forested areas and the result is  millions of tons of rock are dumped into surrounding valleys and rivers, polluting the headwaters that provide drinking water to millions of Americans. It is already known that many water bodies are already polluted in America because of faulty mining and industries. The Environmental Protection Agency has also taken steps in order to stop these minings.
If the people keep taking initiative in such way then it would not be far when the would will again become a healthy place to live in. The results are still unknown, hope it becomes successful.

Brooklyn on list again

Once again I got to hear about the water pollution. I do not understand that how people can be so careless. This time it was Brooklyn. two types of toxins have been found in the water. The Environment Protection Agency has given them order for clean up. It should begin by next spring according to the news of The New York Times.
It is good to see that the environmental agencies are doing something to control the amount of pollution. The people of Newton Creek are aware that the water body is polluted but still they catch fish and consume them. the pollution also effects the fishes of that water body and the toxins get accumulated in people's body as they consuming it. This will later cause a lot of diseases which they might be unknown of.
Most of the toxins are in the form of pesticides, heavy metals, and volatile organic compounds in the creek’s contaminated sediment. These are very much injurious to health. These also cause a great amount of damage to the marine life . Sometimes the fishes die because they consume this thinking to be a food.
Now lets see hoe much work is done after the initiative is taken of cleaning the water way. http://www.crainsnewyork.com/article/20100927/REAL_ESTATE/100929856

Teens having Whale ride

The Department of Environment and Conservation (DEC) has taken action on harassment of wildlife. They have imposed a fine on the teenager of $10,000. Finally the department is taking steps to stop the violation of environmental acts.http://www.smh.com.au/environment/whale-watch/huge-fines-for-teen-after-climbing-on-whale-20100926-15s31.html
why the people does not realise that their act is causing  disturbance in the life of the animals? They can not speak so one can not take the advantage of it. If someone disturb us then how we feel, same is their case. But people fail to realise it. The department has taken a good decision by imposing a fine. This way atleast they will think once before doing any such stupid stuff.

Violation of Nature's Law

The Bahamas government has almost given permission to Billionaire Aga Khan. Once again a case that proves that money can do any thing. the government is almost ready to give permission as in return they will be getting a huge amount for it in return.
the environmentalists are angry for this reason and they must be. the  building of private island in the marine park .The park is known for its pristine environment, and police fine locals and tourists and confiscate their boats if they are found fishing, camping or anchoring in protected areas. This  will cause a great amount of damage to the marine life. the water will also be polluted while the work will be done. How can the government react so casually to this matter. If the environmentalists did not interrupted the government would have given the permission. The project would require the dredging of nine acres (four hectares) of seabed in the Bahamas' oldest state park, as well as the excavation of five acres (two hectares) on land.http://www.google.co.in/#hl=en&source=hp&biw=1022&bih=472&q=Billionaire+Aga+Khan+seeks+permission+to+develop+inside+marine+park+in+Bahamas&btnG=Google+Search&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai=&fp=67482a645e5d4a4b
This is completely against the nature's law. So it  must be stopped.
